Impalila Island Lodge

Impalila Island Lodge is a 16-bedded luxury lodge with much to offer discerning clients. Our island is situated in the Eastern Caprivi of Namibia at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers at the place where 4 countries meet. View amazing mosaics of waterways, floodplains and bushveld from the air and on the ground exceptional birdlife, game viewing and assorted vegetation as well as outstanding fishing opportunities. Impalila is also the most secluded and remote of the Chobe destinations but close enough to offer guests the very best of the Chobe River – that is game viewing by boat.

At Impalila Island Lodge we believe that guests should be able to choose how they spend their leisure time. Apart from our luxurious accommodation and culinary delights we offer a wide variety of activities such as sunset game cruises on the Chobe river, fly-fishing the Mambova rapids for the rapacious Tigerfish or bream, guided walks on the island including visits to cultural villages and a 2000 year-old baobab from where the meeting of all 4 countries and 2 rivers can be witnessed, or just pampered relaxation while lazing by the pool.Back

Ntwala Island Lodge

Ntwala Island Lodge is the most pristine and secluded Chobe destination. Surrounded on all sides by seductively wild and powerful waterways. Intricate floating walkways link an untouched Namibian cluster of islands within the Mambova rapids where two mighty African rivers – the Zambezi and Chobe converge, only 80km upstream from the Victoria Falls and where white sands and palm trees add to the romance - belying the fact that this lodge is in Africa!

Ntwala Island Lodge comprises of four ultra luxury styled suites artfully appointed, each inclusive of a private plunge pool fringed by white sand and opulent viewing deck, bay bath feature; indoor and outdoor shower; as well as a private sala extending enticingly out over the water. We ensure personalised service, culinary expertise and quality privately guided big game activities. These small islands offer exclusivity and isolation – a complete holistic African experience. Meander the multiple waterways with your personal guide and private boat, indulging in a vast array of activities; take in an exclusive Chobe sunset cruise whilst viewing Africa’s big game or pursue the famed Tigerfish on fly as the water lulls your senses and precipitates peace. Susuwe Island Lodge

Susuwe Island Lodge offers visitors the opportunity to experience closely a wild and untouched island of Africa. Situated in north-eastern Namibia, our island is in the remote Kwando River - a permanent water source which nourishes delicate ecosystems and sustains varied game and birdlife. Relaxation, privacy and comfort are paramount here. Susuwe Island Lodge is built to incorporate the riverine forest - the main complex has lofty canopy viewing decks overlooking endless savannahs, glistening lily-studded wetlands and ancient Kalahari woodlands, as well as a firepit, spacious lounge and dining areas, curio shop and small reference library.

Six spacious brick and thatch suites equipped with double bathroom, bedroom, lounge and wooden viewing deck each with private plunge pool offer our visitors the opportunity to merge unhurriedly with Africa's timeless evolution of hazy days and star-studded nights. Mosquito nets, overhead fans and hairdryers as well as generated electricity are provided

At Susuwe game drives are in open 4 x 4 vehicles into the Bwabwata National Park. Game sightings in this cradle of rivers could include vast herds of roaming elephant and buffalo, lion, hippo, leopard, sable, roan and lechwe for example. Night drives at Susuwe offer an even closer insight into the intrigue of the African bush. Back

Activities: All activities are included in our tariff unless otherwise specified, and are arranged according to guests’ preferences and time.Back

Bar purchases: Unless otherwise specified, soft drinks, local brand beers and house wine are included in our rates. Furthermore, we offer a selection of cellar wines, imported beers, spirits and liqueurs.Back

Children: We regret no children under 12 years unless by special arrangement at Ntwala Island Lodge and Susuwe Island Lodge, but at Impalila Island Lodge children from 6 years old are welcome.Back

Communications: All our lodges are linked with HF Radio and we make use of bushmail (radio email). Cellular communication is possible at all our lodges.Back

Community Development Fund: A ZAR40.00 donation is requested from each guest on departure from the Lodges. This is placed in a community development fund which is utilized for local community upliftment projects over and above what the lodge contributes. Please understand that this is a voluntary contribution.

Islands in Africa, in conjunction with the tribal authorities, determine the priority of the projects which need funding.Back

Credit cards: All major credit cards accepted.Back

Dietary requirements: Our cuisine is al fresco fusion style, and our chefs are happy to cater to any requirement. Please inform our reservations of any special dietary requirements and we will do our utmost to oblige.Back

Drinking water: Tap water is not recommended for drinking. You will find a flask of drinking water in your suite.Back

Electricity: The electricity is generator supplied, and runs on 220Volt AC with standard South African three-point plugs in each chalet.

A torch is provided for use when the generator is switched off during the night.Back

Emergencies: All guests are automatically covered by a medical rescue policy that covers evacuation to the nearest appropriate medical facility.

Emergency Items: If you have left behind or run out of an essential item, please ask the manager who will have a supply of most essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving kit, deodorant and the like. If you require non-prescription medicine just ask and depending on transport we should be able to get it to you.

Each suite is equipped with a hairdryer.Back

Fire Hydrants: A fire extinguisher is placed outside the door to your suite.Back

Gratuities: If you are well satisfied with the service you have received, any gratuity that you may wish to leave for the staff will be greatly appreciated. We pool all these gifts of appreciation and divide them equally. This is entirely at your discretion

Any currency is acceptable but please note that local banks do not change foreign coins. We do accept Master and Visa credit cards for gratuities.Back

Immigration formalities and visa requirements: All three lodges are in Namibia. Please contact the relevant authorities to confirm current visa requirements and to ensure that travel documents are in order for the countries travelled through to get to us.

It is important to ensure that arrival and departure times coincide with border times.

Impalila Island Lodge and Ntwala Island Lodge – Namibian immigration facilities are on Impalila Island.

Susuwe Island Lodge - the nearest Namibian immigration facility is at Katima Mulilo Airport or Lianshulu Lodge unless already cleared through at Impalila.Back

Laundry: If you have laundry please place it with the laundry list into the laundry bag which can be found in your wardrobe. Weather permitting it will be returned to you the same day. Laundry is complimentary and part of our service.Back

Life Jackets: Life jackets are available on request for all water activities.Back

Malaria: Anti-malaria tablets are advisable all year round. We re commend you check with your physician for prophylaxis advice. Mosquito repellent sprays are provided,, and we recommend that long sleeves and pants are worn in the evenings and early mornings.Back

Safe keeping: Each suite is equipped with a lockable safe in which valuables can be stored.Back

Swimming Towels: Swimming towels are provided in your bathroom.Back

Travel insurance: All guests travelling to our area must take our their own travel insurance.Back

What to take with

Comfortable walking-shoes, sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimming costumes, binoculars, sun cream, camera and video.

Long pants (especially winter); short pants (all year round); long sleeved shirts (all year round - mosquitoes and cold); Comfortable flat shoes or running shoes

A light jacket is recommended for boat and open 4x4 vehicle trips and in winter (April / May to August / September) a warmer jacket will be needed

Dress code is casual

Seat rate transfers and most light aircraft charters restrict you to 12 kg (26 lbs.) of baggage - in a soft bag please (maximum dimensions- 35 cm wide X 20 cm high X 80cm long (14" wide x 11" high x 32 " long) as the pilot may have to push the bags to get them into the pod. Please note that the cargo pods on the normal light aircraft cannot handle suitcases and hard bags. If you have opted for a private charter then these restrictions will not apply.Back
