The Mushara Collection - all you need to know
The Mushara OutpostLocated on the same property as Mushara Lodge and Villa Mushara – as the crow flies 2 km east of the Mushara Lodge.
The Mushara Outpost consists of 8 guest units, each sleeping two. There are two guide units.
Guests are accommodated in custom made tents on a wooden deck. The tents are nestled amongst the trees on the western bank of a small omuramba - a dry river bed. As far as we know the last time water was carried through the omaramba was some 40 years ago; the ground water level is shallow so that trees and shrubs have ideal conditions to grow, leaving most parts of the omuramba overgrown.
The tents are facing eastwards, to allow for privacy and protection from the sun which is harshest from the west. Pathways leading to and from the main lodge are on the western side.
A wooden ramp leads onto the deck – where we enter the private veranda – 12sqm of private space! The veranda is the perfect spot to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
A large glass sliding door leads us into the tent – of course, all windows and doors are covered with insect screens.
The tent is a wooden structure, wrapped by canvas with fixed wooden doorframes and window frames. Three large ceiling to floor glass windows allow for fresh air during the night and for the very warm afternoons, air conditioning will make life perfect.
The open-plan bathroom has an enclosed toilet with a ceiling and two large windows. Whilst busy at the wash basin, you will have a view of the bush through the glass window - we had to choose between a large mirror and the window – the window won!
Shower walls are glass from top to bottom. Unzip the outside canvas wall of the shower to your preferred height – and you will shower virtually in the bush – a pity still to have glass between you and the bush!
The furnishing of the tent will be minimal, comfortable and has a light feel to it.
There is a mini bar, coffee station, safe, telephone, mosquito net, hair dryer and air conditioning.
The lodge house is in the style of an old farm house – tall walls, corrugated iron roof with a large wrap around veranda. This faces North East – to take advantage of the cooler side. Dinner is served under the stars, breakfast and lunch are on the veranda.
There is a lap pool and guided game drives are offered into Etosha National Park.
The Mushara Outpost is all about old-fashioned hospitality with warm, friendly and personalised service on the doorstep of the magical Etosha Pan National Park. Back
Mushara LodgeLocated only 8kms from the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern outskirts of the Etosha National Park, Mushara Lodge is ideally situated for travelers visiting the park. The Lodge consists of ten spacious chalets, one family unit and two single rooms.
The name Mushara derives from the Purple Pod Terminalia tree, which grows in abundance in the lodge grounds and the surrounding area. The thatched public area consists of a small library with a selection of good books, a bar with an extensive wine cellar, airy lounge with welcoming fireplace for winter evenings, a dining area and well stocked curio shop. Great attention has been paid to the décor, which is an electic blend of traditional African and modern art works combined with original paintings. Back
Villa MusharaWith individuality in mind, only two exclusive villas have been designed to create an ideal retreat from the stress of modern day life, where an aura of tranquility and contemplation prevails.

Each fine detail has been considered within the confines of the 140 square metre living space, from a small private library in each villa to a silver candle snuff in the en suite bathroom.

Etosha National ParkEtosha National Park is one of Southern Africa’s finest and most important Game Reserves, which was declared a National Park in 1907. The park covers an area of 22 270 km² and is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and one species of fish.
A San legend, depicting the formation of the Etosha Pan tells of how a village was raised and everyone but the women slaughtered. One woman was so distraught about the death of her family she cried until her tears formed a massive lake. When the lake dried up nothing was left apart from a huge white pan.
On Mushara game drives, guests experience a fascinating perspective of wildlife in Etosha.
All 4wd vehicles have year round operational abilit. They offer a 360 degree unobstructed view at optimal height for game viewing. Mushara's guides use up-to-date local game movement information and thereby have a high success rate in game spotting. Back
