Surrounded by plains teeming with wildlife and situated close to Etosha (the vast expanse of savannah and salt pan, the largest in Africa, ‘discovered’ by Sir Francis Galton and Charles Andersson in 1851), the discoverer atmosphere of Andersson’s Camp makes for a much more comfortable modern day exploration of this landscape. The resurrected farmstead now forms the anchor fronting onto a thriving waterhole, and the twenty tented guest units with en-suite bathrooms are raised on decks for an enhanced view. This model of eco-sensitive lodging provides an authentic, safe and down-to-earth experience for small groups, families and independent travelers to Etosha.

Day 6 and 7
Experience the Damaraland highlands with its impressive landscape and ragged valleys, as well as the rock engravings and paintings, Burnt Mountain, Organ Pipes and Petrified Forest.
Mowani Mountain Camp is characterised by its thatched dome-shaped structures which echo the shape of the granite boulders amongst which they are built. The feeling is one of an (very upmarket) African village, this theme is continued throughout the lodge in the various wood carving and artifacts. This lodge is one of the finest in the Damaraland Region. Between the Ugab and Huab Rivers in Southern Damaraland lies a vast and unspoilt wilderness. This area boasts magnificent desert scenery, fascinating geological formations, archaeological sites and a unique variety of desert fauna and flora. It's also the Southernmost roaming ground for the rare black rhino and desert elephant. This is where you will find the Twyfelfontein Conservancy and the Mowani Mountain Camp. Mowani is taken from the word M'Wane, meaning "Place of God", and it is here, that you will find the true meaning of peace and tranquility. Mowani Mountain Camp nestles amongst the boulders of this beautiful area on a high spot commanding distant views over the ancient landscape.

The lodge offers guided walks and drives which will give you ample opportunity to take in the magnificent surroundings.
